 Happy Friday!

This week flew by. To help families keep track of work, we have assignments and examples posted on our GOT shared drive that explains what to do after the Google class meet times. We also post what assignments that the students need to be working on for the week. The students are also able to access the classwork in Google classrooms. They should be working for a solid half hour after meet times.

We have captured a few pictures of the kids in their unified arts classes.

lollygag

They're going bananas.

What is latitude and longitude?

What are three things that Gabriel King is afraid of?

How do you do KRYPTO?

Explain 4 to the 3rd power?

What is Grit

In language arts  with Mrs. Conley this week we wrote poems based on Eileen Spinelli's poem, Today. Students were asked to pay attention to what they could see and hear outside their own homes and then write their own poem.

Over the next few weeks we will have mini lessons about the different parts of a personal narrative. We will begin by writing about people, places, and objects in our lives that matter to us. In class on Thursday and Friday we listened to An A from Miss Keller by Patricia Polacco. It's a true story from Ms. Polacco's life when one of her teachers taught her how to give her words wings.

Math with Mr. Smith

Content: We are working hard on Order of Operations and Volume as we finish up the unit!

Skills : Kids are calculating The L X W X H to find the volume of rectangular prisms.

They are also using PEMDAS to solve math equations. We are also working with exponents.

I have all my students on Khan Academy- I will be giving them assignments and checking them often.

Challenge Choice- Kids can pick a challenging choice when they finish the Tany Packet.

This week we added a maze for numbers divisible by 5. Krypto is a good challenge for this week too.

They have a week to get at least 30 and getting all 60 is really challenging!

Mrs. Found's classes:

Reading- We continued reading aloud The Liberation of Gabriel King.   What was on Gabe's list of fears?  What is Frita's plan to liberate Gabe from his fears?

Social Studies- Mystery Doug - How can you tell if a plant is poisonous?  Map Skills-Washaho- We learned latitude and longitude by using coordinates on a map to locate places.  What were some of the early navigational tools explorers used in the 1400s?
