Week of 9/10 Update - Please Read

Hi All!
We enjoyed meeting many of you at open house this week and look forward to seeing you again soon for goal conferences in October.

Your children continue to impress us.  They are polite, respectful and ready to go.  We love it.  We continue to learn routines and expectations for quality work.

In language arts the reading and writing workshops have been launched, Dance Mat typing is off to a great success, and we are getting to know the library.  We are enjoying our first class read aloud "How to be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days."  We figure by next week we should all be perfect.  :-)

In math class we've been investigating the relationship between the perimeter and the area of rectangles.  We've read "Spaghetti and Meatballs for All" to launch this problem.  We will be getting into our Everyday Math Journals next week as we begin to find the area of rectangles with fractional side lengths.  In science we've been learning about the brain and are just about to launch into our Magnets and Motors Unit.

Here are some possible conversation starters to get information out of your kids!  :-)
